Description

Shake the bottle of colourant for about three minutes to make sure it is well mixed. Pour a small amount onto a sponge and rub into the leather. The idea is to sponge on a thin coat of colour working it into any gaps, creases and hard to reach areas. Apply light pressure here to work the colourant into the grain. If you apply too much pressure you may get a foam of colour on the surface, this is not a problem, just wipe it away with the sponge (gently). Apply diluted Easy Leather Dye directly to the canvas (not on to the soft side of the sponge like you do for real leather). A small cloth patch is carefully positioned behind the tear. 2. The Leather Glue is then used to fix the patch in place 3. Imperfections are ‘filled’ with ‘Heavy Filler’ and coloured. The colour is first ‘dabbed’ on with a sponge, working into creases (below). These splits had repaired previously with poor results The splits have been repaired with patches glued behind the damage, filled with ‘Repair Compound’, and recoloured (below). Because the seating cushions and other areas come under more stress (wear & tear) it is important to prepare them. To do this it is best to rub them with the Leather Prep and an abrasive pad, this application removes the leather finish. A good way to apply this is to place two cotton wool balls on the abrasive pad and then wet them in prep, fold the abrasive pad over the balls and then use it to rub the leather. This way applies the prep in the correct and sparing way making the product last longer.

All in One Leather Dye - Red - The Scratch Doctor

Fortunately, The Leather Colour Doctor has a range of professional-quality leather dyes that will restore your leather to like-new condition. After your leather is deglazed, you're ready to add color. We sell Fiebings dye, which is a penetrating alcohol-based leather dye. It doesn’t hurt to test the dye on a scrap piece to figure out how to achieve your desired color. Two coats right out of the bottle might do, while for others, adding a dye reducer to tone down the color may be preferable. Once you’ve figured out your preference, you can apply the dye. Whilst many leather sofa dye and preparation products are needed, we have put them together in a kit specifically designed for dyeing and changing the colour of leather. The Leather Colourant Kit used in this guide (although it is often referred to as a Leather Dye Kit) can be used to change the colour of all leather, vinyl, plastic, PVC & leather car interiors. It is essential to clean thoroughly and remove finishes prior to application. The cleaning required is different depending on the material of the item. The colourant dries naturally or you can speed it up with a hair dryer. After applying one base coat, apply two more coats of colourant in the same way as before. You can actually achieve a good finish without even spraying any colour on! However it is best to spray some on as well. Is it a Leather Sofa Dye? The last step is actually quite easy! The colour can be applied by brush, sponge or airbrush. Simply apply the colour onto the leather in a thin coat and dry it with a hairdryer. This is a common error and it could spell disaster for your leather. At Leather Colour Doctor we have taken the time to carefully formulate dyes of exceptional quality. Our products act as an all-in-one leather dye and sealer.

Firstly you must remove any dirt, shoe creams, and protectors on the leather which would prevent a correct application of the leather paint. Once the dye has dried completely, you can choose to seal it with a number of different options (first, make sure to buff the piece with a clean cloth to remove any excess dye pigment).

Planned Royal Mail Strike Action

Once applied, our colourants and finishes are so tough, you will find it difficult to even scuff or scratch the leather!

The colour of my leather has worn/faded and I want to restore it, do I use the Leather Re-Colouring Balm or the Leather Colourant Kit? For leather, rub the surface to be dyed with the rough side of the included sponge to remove dirt, shoe creams and protectors that are on the leather which would prevent the correct application of the dye. Because the Colourant we're using is water based it takes a few minutes to dry. We therefore advise you to spray one area and then dry it using a hair dryer. Doing it this way reduces the chance of runs. If you do see a run, just dab it off with a cloth or sponge and then re-spray the area. Includes dye which now has preparer built into it, saving you time, applicator sponge and multi lingual instructions.

One kit will easily dye multiple pairs of shoes, or handbags. Very little is used per use, as it’s a true dye, when following directions. If applied correctly, the finish/colour provided by the kit can typically be expected to last as long as the original manufacturers finish would taking into account conditions and wear & tear. To restore the original colour to non-absorbent leathers where more significant areas of fading or wear has occurred you should use the Leather Colourant Kit.
